Stephen evaluated (6.34 times 10 Superscript negative 7 Baseline) (4.5 times 10 Superscript 3 Baseline). His work is shown below
Maksim231197 [3]

Answer:

The step 4 and 5 describe the errors Stephen made.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Stephen evaluated (6.34\times 10^{-7})(4.5\times 10^3). His work is shown below.

To find : Which two statements describe the errors Stephen made?

Solution :

Step 1 - (6.34\times 10^{-7})(4.5\times 10^3)

Step 2 - (6.34\times 4.5)(10^{-7}\times 10^3)

Step 3 - (28.53)(10^{-4})

Step 4 - 28.53\times 10^{4}

Error is the step as 4 sign is negative.

So correct step is 28.53\times 10^{-4}

Step 5 - 28.53\times 10^{3}

Error is the step as there is 4 in place of 3.

So correct step is 28.53\times 10^{-4}

The step 4 and 5 describe the errors Stephen made.

You are skateboarding at a pace of 30 meters every 5 seconds. your friend is in-line skating at a pace of 9 meters every 2 secon
AnnyKZ [126]

In order to graph the relationship, we will need to write the expression as the equation of a straight line as shown:

d = mt + b

d is the distance covered

t is the time taken

m is the speed

If you are skateboarding at a pace of 30 meters every 5 seconds. your friend is in-line skating at a pace of 9 meters every 2 seconds, this can be written as (5, 30) and (2, 9)

Get the slope of the line:

m = (9-30)/(2-5)

m = -21/-3

m = 7

Substitute m = 7 and the coordinate (2, 9) into the equation y = mt + b

9 = 7(2) + b

9 = 14 + b

b = -5

The required equation to plot will be expressed as y = 7t - 5

Plot the required graph

Find XS, VY, and YZ. I am very confused on what to do.
Dafna1 [17]

Answer:

Do you see the lines and how they are named? I am going to try and explain this in less words than I can. Where it says XS you have to match it up with the lines. But if it says that you have to find XSU (which it does not) you would have to go up all the way but you stop where it says the S so you wont go all the way up to the U. I hope this helps!

The top and bottom margins of a poster 66 cm each, and the side margins are 44 cm each. If the area of the printed material on t
jasenka [17]

Answer:

 • width: 24 cm
 • height: 36 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

When margins are involved, the smallest area will be the one that has its dimensions in the same proportion as the margins. If x is the "multiplier", the dimensions of the printed area are ...

 (4x)(6x) = 384 cm^2

 x^2 = 16 cm^2 . . . . . divide by 24

 x = 4 cm

The printed area is 4x by 6x, so is 16 cm by 24 cm. With the margins added, the smallest poster will be ...

 24 cm by 36 cm

_____

Comment on margins

It should be obvious that if both side margins are 4 cm, then the width of the poster is 8 cm more than the printed width. Similarly, the 6 cm top and bottom margins make the height of the poster 12 cm more than the height of the printed area.

_____

Alternate solution

Let w represent the width of the printed area. Then the printed height is 384/w, and the total poster area is ...

 A = (w+8)(384/w +12) = 384 +12w +3072/w +96

Differentiating with respect to w gives ...

 A' = 12 -3072/w^2

Setting this to zero and solving for w gives ...

 w = √(3072/12) = 16 . . . . matches above solution.

__

Generic solution

If we let s and t represent the side and top margins, and we use "a" for the printed area, then the above equation becomes the symbolic equation ...

 A = (w +s)(a/w +t)

 A' = t - sa/w^2

For A' = 0, ...

 w = √(sa/t)

and the height is ...

 a/w = a/√(sa/t) = √(ta/s)

Then the ratio of width to height is ...

 w/(a/w) = w^2/a = (sa/t)/a

 width/height = s/t . . . . . . the premise we started with, above
