The colonies set up a system of committees of correspondence to keep the colonists informed of British actions after the Boston Massacre incidence which occur on March 5, 1770, in which five Boston citizens were killed and six were injured, The committees were created to maintain communication lines throughout the Thirteen Colonies, to share ideas, information and as united opposition against British policy as a result of her stiffening of customs enforcement and prohibition of American paper money.
