You have to use distributive property. Multiply the numbers outside of the parenthesis by the numbers inside. For example, you would multiply 0.4 by 2x first, then multiply it by 1/2. You should get two answers. Write them down in this form: first answer + second answer. Then do the same for the other side of the equal sign, but leave the - 4 alone. What is the equation in slope intercept form of the line that contains the point (8, -2) and has a y-intercept of -4?
Alecsey [184]
Y=mx+b,slop intercept form
we need to find the slope.we nned to point
(-8,2) is given you can get the other by understanding the defintion of y-intercept (0,-4)
m = slope =  \frac{ 2  - ( -  4)}{ - 8 - 0}  =  \frac{6}{ - 8}
m=-6/8,b=y-intercept=-4
y =  \frac{ - 6}{8} x  + ( - 4)
