<span>A depressant must reduce mental activity and decrease physical activity. A depressant acts by interfering with and reducing the levels of activity in neuro-transmitters. This serves to slow down the chemical processes within the brain which consequently lowers the level of mental activity or arousal. The brain also programs the body to reduce the levels of physical activity in a proportionate manner.</span>

Intrinsic rewards are internal - they refer to feelings of accomplishment, of success, of pride, and are intangible, meaning that you cannot touch them. On the other hand, extrinsic rewards are actual objects that you receive as a reward for something you did.
<span>The nursing student would need to include a stroke as a possible consequence of untreated chronic hypertension. Chronic hypertension can cause blood vessels in the brain to leak or burst which will lead to a stroke. Chronic hypertension also causes blood clots which lead to a stroke.</span>
