On Ed2018

1) Javier did not raise the coefficients to the third power

2) when Javier raised x to the third power, he wrote that (x^1)^3=x^4, but it equals x^3

3) In the last step, Javier divided the exponents. He should have used the quotient of powers property and subtracted them.

( \dfrac{20x}{5x^8})^-^3

<span>Take out the constants

( \dfrac{20}{5} *  \dfrac{x}{x^8} ) ^-^3

(4*\dfrac{x}{x^8} ) ^-^3

Use the rule : \frac{{x}^{a}}{{x}^{b}}={x}^{a-b}&#10;

(4x^1^-^8)^-^3

(4x^-^7)^-^3

Use the n<span>egative power rule : </span>{x}^{-a}=\frac{1}{{x}^{a}}&#10;

\frac{1}{4(x^-^7)}^-^3

\frac{1}{4^3(x^-^7)}^-^3

\dfrac{1}{64x^-^2^1}

\dfrac{1}{64* \dfrac{1}{x^2^1}}

\dfrac{1}{64 \dfrac{}{x^2^1}}

= \dfrac{x^2^1}{64}

The world's smallest plane has a length of 12 feet and the world's longest plane has a length of 302 feet. Write an absolute val
iren [92.7K]

An absolute value equation which could represent the length of a plane is : 12 feets ≥ x ≤ 302 feets

Smallest length of a plane = 12 feets

Longest length of a plane = 302 feets

This means that the minimum length of a plane cannot be below 12 feets and the maximum length of a plane cannot be above 302 feets

Using x as the length of a plane :

To represent as an absolute value ; we use inequality :

Minimum length ≥ x ≤ maximum length

12 feets ≥ x ≤ 302 feets .

What is the solution to the following equation?<br><br> 5 + 3 (y - 4) = 4y +10
Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

5 +3(y-4) = 4y +10

5 + 3y -12= 4y +10

-7 +3y = 4y + 10

3y - 4y = 10 + 7

-y = 17

y= -17

Find the area of the unshaded part of the figure
Tcecarenko [31]
<h3>Answer:</h3>

  unshaded area = 25(4 -π) in^2 ≈ 21.46 in^2

<h3>Step-by-step explanation:</h3>

Each of the shaded circles has a diameter of (20 in)/4 = 5 in, which also is the width of the enclosing rectangle. Then each circle has a radius of 2.5 in, and an area of ...

  A = πr^2 = π(2.5 in)^2 = 6.25π in^2

The four circles together have an area of ...

  4A = 4·(6.25π in^2) = 25π in^2

The area of the rectangle is the product of its length and width:

  A = LW = (20 in)(5 in) = 100 in^2

Since the circles are shaded, the unshaded area is the difference between the rectangle area and the total area of the four circles:

  unshaded area = (100 in^2) - (25π in^2) = 25(4 -π) in^2 ≈ 21.46 in^2

Determine if the graph is symmetric about the x-axis, the y-axis, or the origin. r = 2 cos 3θ
Nina [5.8K]
Take a quick peek at brainly.com/question/10417591
that's how you test for the y-axis, x-axis and origin

recall your symmetry identities, cos(- θ) = cos(θ)

so, simply replace θ for those values, and if the resultant function looks exactly like the original, then it has that symmetry.
