1/8(30)+1/5(20)= 31/4 = 7.75
You should slice 7 and 3/4 lbs of roast beef

The would need 7 3/4 pounds (8 if you round up) of roast beef.

To find this you'd multiply 30/1 (30 as a fraction) by 1/8. To do so, you multiply straight across which gives you 30/8 or 3 3/4 when simplified. You repeat this process for the next two numbers too (20/1*1/5 = 20/5. Simplified it equals 4). Finally you add 4 and 3 3/4 together to get your answer of 7 3/4. Round up to 8 if needed.

I hope this helps!

The probability distribution of a random variable X is given. x 1 2 3 4 P(X = x) 0.4 0.1 0.3 0.2 Compute the mean, variance, and
Readme [11.4K]

Mean:

E(X) = \displaystyle \sum_{x\in\{1,2,3,4\}}x\,P(X=x) = 1\times0.4 + 2\times0.1 + 3\times0.3 + 4\times0.2 = \boxed{2.3}

Variance:

\displaystyle V(X) = E\left((X-E(X))^2\right) = E(X^2) - E(X)^2 \\\\ E(X^2) = \sum_{x\in\{1,2,3,4\}}x^2\,P(X=x) = 1^2\times0.4 + 2^2\times0.1 + 3^2\times0.3 + 4^2\times0.2 = 6.7 \\\\ \implies V(X) = 6.7 - 2.3^2 = \boxed{1.41}

Standard deviation:

\sigma_X = \sqrt{V(X)} = \sqrt{1.41} \approx \boxed{1.19}

In three bowling games,David scored 139,143, and 144. What score will David need in the fourth game in order to have an average
Liono4ka [1.6K]
Let's find out.

David needs to score an average of 145 across all four games, so first we do:

145 × 4 = 580

Then we add all the scores he currently has:

139 + 143 + 144 = 426

Then we subtract 426 from 580 to find out how much he needs to score for his fourth:

580 - 426 = 154

David needs to score 154 on his 4th game to have an average score of 145 for all 4 games.

Likurg_2 [28]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio of green : pink = 32 : 56 = 4 : 7

After 7 pink are given away, then

ratio = ? : 49 = 4 : 7 ← ratio has to be the same

Using proportion

\frac{?}{4} = \frac{49}{7} ( cross- multiply )

7? = 196 ( divide both sides by 7 )

? = 28

Thus the ratio = 28 : 49 = 4 : 7

Thus 32 - 28 = 4 green should be given

Answer:

2x-y=8

Step-by-step explanation:

Equation of a line y-y1 =m(x-x1)

Given m=2, x1=7, y1=6

y-6 = 2(x-7)

y-6 = 2x-14

2x-y = 8
