Given:

Consider the equation is

\dfrac{h^{16}}{h^x}=\dfrac{1}{h^{24}}

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

We have,

\dfrac{h^{-16}}{h^x}=\dfrac{1}{h^{24}}

Using properties of exponents, we get

h^{-16-x}=h^{-24}       [\because \dfrac{a^m}{a^n}=a^{m-n},a^{-n}=\dfrac{1}{a^n}]

On comparing both sides, we get

-16-x=-24

Add 16 on both sides.

-x=-24+16

-x=-8

Multiply both sides by -1.

x=8

Therefore, the value of x is 8.

Andrei [34K]
Well, it should be 45 because 1/3 of the game would be 15 and 15+15 is 30 (2/3rds cost), so 15+15+15, 45, would be the full cost of the game

the distance around tims rectangulr book is 48 centimeters the length of each longer side is 14 cm what is the length of each sh
yanalaym [24]

let the length of each shorter side be x

length of longer side= x+14

2(x+14) + 2x = 48

2x + 28 + 2x = 48

4x + 28 = 48

4x = 48-28

4x = 20

x = 5

shorter side = 5cm

Answer: They are parallel

Step-by-step explanation:

If two lines are parallel , then they must have the same slope and if two lines are perpendicular , the product of their slope must be -1.

To check this , we must calculate the slope of the two lines given.

Slope = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}

from the first point

y_{1} = 2

y_{2} = 1

x_{1} = 5

x_{2} = -1

substituting the values

slope 1 = 1 - 2 / -3 - 5

slope1 = -1 / -8

slope 1 = 1/8

Using the same format to calculate the slope of the second line

y_{1} = -2

y_{2} = 0

x_{1} = -1

x_{2} = 15

slope 2 = 0 - (-2) / 15 - (-1)

slope 2 = 2/16

slope 2 = 1/8

Since slope 1 = slope 2 , this implies that the lines are parallel

A plane at an altitude of 7000 feet is flying in the direction of an island. If the angle of elevation is 21 degrees from the pl
sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

6,535.06 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

The set up is right angles

hypotenuse = 7000feet

angle of elevation = 21 degrees

Required

horizontal distance (adjacent)

Using SOH, CAH TOA trig identity

cos theta = adj/hyp

cos 21 =  adj/7000

adj = 7000 cos 21

adj = 7000(0.9336)

adj =  6,535.06

Hence the HORIZONTAL distance until the plane flies over the island is 6,535.06 feet
