Given:

Consider the equation is

\dfrac{h^{16}}{h^x}=\dfrac{1}{h^{24}}

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

We have,

\dfrac{h^{-16}}{h^x}=\dfrac{1}{h^{24}}

Using properties of exponents, we get

h^{-16-x}=h^{-24}       [\because \dfrac{a^m}{a^n}=a^{m-n},a^{-n}=\dfrac{1}{a^n}]

On comparing both sides, we get

-16-x=-24

Add 16 on both sides.

-x=-24+16

-x=-8

Multiply both sides by -1.

x=8

Therefore, the value of x is 8.

Find the missing angle or find X?
Sindrei [870]
X = 60°
Because the square in the corner tells you that it is 90° (right angle)
So your equation to solve for x would be...
x + 30 = 90
Now you need to isolate the x.

Subtract both sides by 30.
x + 0 = 90 - 30
x = 60

When the movie is half over, popcorn sells for half price. Full price popcorn is $3.50, and drinks are $1.35. Determine the cost
Nady [450]
Full price of popcorn: $3.50
Price of popcorn after half the movie: $1.75
price of drinks: $1.35

The question is....."Determine the cost for purchasing 3 orders of popcorn and 3 drinks when the movie is half over."

$1.75*3=$5.25
$1.35*3=$4.05

the price of the 3 orders of popcorn would be $5.25
The price of the 3 orders of drink would be $4.05

5.25 + 4.05 = $9.30

In total the 3 orders of popcorn and 3 orders of drink would cost $9.30

Hope this helps! :)

Solve for x<br> Urgent need help
fiasKO [112]
I believe you need to solve this using the quadratic formula!
To begin, this is what it is:
x= -b ± <span>√ b^2 - 4ac / 2a
Just plug in what you have in your problem...
2 being a, 13 being b, and -24 being c.
So we get:
x= -13 </span>± <span>√13^2 - 4(2)(-24) / 2(2)
x= -13 </span><span>± √169 - 8 (-24) / 4</span>
<span>x= -13 <span>± √169 + 192 / 4</span>
x= -13 </span>± √<span>361 / 4
The square root of 361 is 19.
So you have: -13 </span><span>± 19 / 4.
Here's where you take the equation </span>-13 <span>± 19 and put the addition and subtraction sign to use.
-13 - 19 = -32
and
-13 + 19 = 6
Now all is left to do is divide the two numbers by 4.
-32/4 = -8
and
6/4 = 3/2

x = -8, 3/2</span>
