In ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles twitch randomly instead of beating. This condition causes death within minutes if no
Lana71 [14]

Answer:

Ventricular fibrillation a type of arrhythmia characterized by a very fast heart rate which causes no blood to reach vital organs causing cardiac arrest. While Atrial fibrillation is an atrial tachyarrhythmia characterized by the fact that the atria beat in an uncoordinated way at a very high rate that exceeds 350 beats per minute. As a result, the atria are no longer effective in pumping blood to the ventricles.

Explanation:

Under normal conditions the heart contracts rhythmically and synchronously. This contraction is the result of an electrical impulse that is generated in the atrium, reaches the ventricle and results in a heartbeat. In an arrhythmia there is an alteration of this mechanism that leads to the heart not contracting regularly, generating a rhythm disorder. The contraction of the ventricles pumps blood to the rest of the body. In ventricular fibrillation, the heart rhythm is very fast and chaotic (up to 300 beats per minute) and is characterized by not being able to provoke an efficient heart beat. Thus, the lack of contraction of the ventricles causes the blood to barely be pumped from the heart, producing a collapse of the cardiovascular system and cardiac arrest. Atrial fibrillation is characterized by disorganized and very rapid atrial activity (350-600 beats / min). This leads to an irregular ventricular response (150-200 beats / min) and an irregular pulse.During atrial fibrillation, the atrial contraction that helps fill the ventricles with blood is lost; this can significantly reduce cardiac output, particularly in patients with mitral stenosis, hypertension, or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolism (formation of blood clots in the heart that can dislodge and go through the bloodstream until impacted on the a blood vessel, causing lack of irrigation in that area) and therefore stroke (cerebral thromboembolic accident).

satela [25.4K]

An advantage of using sports drinks for fluid replacement during exercise is that:

c. they have a pleasant taste which encourages consumption.

Explanation:

  • If you are doing moderate exercise in a very hot environment, you may also lose electrolytes that can't be replaced by drinking water alone.
  • Sports drinks can help replenish electrolytes lost during exercise, and because they contain sugar, they can also give you a boost of energy to help you get through a workout
  • The best bet for rehydration is to consume a low-cal beverage that contains electrolytes such as sodium and potassium.
  • Good choices include sports drinks (go low-cal if your workout), try coconut water, or water with a slice of fruit. The refreshing hint of flavor may drive you to drink more
  • During exercise, the main way the body maintains optimal body temperature is by sweating. Heat is removed from the body when beads of sweat on the skin evaporate, resulting in a loss of body fluid.

Information gathered by a scientist abut the toxicity of chemical X and chemical Y showed that they had individual safe limits f
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

The correct answer is synergism.

Explanation:

In synergism, two or more substances interact with each other and produce a greater combined effect than the sum of the effect produced by them separately. So in synergism two chemicals enhance their overall effect when works together. For example, when a cancer patient is given chemotherapy and radiation together it shows better results than when these two therapy are used separately.

So, in this case, X and Y chemicals individually have a limited effect on fish but when used together their combined effect becomes greater which becomes toxic to the fishes that show that it is an example of synergism.
