Solve the System of Equations
Softa [21]

<u>Answer: </u>

The ordered pair value of (x, y) is (6,-11)

<u>Solution: </u>

Given Equations are

Let 8x + 15y = -117 be Equation 1 and 4x + 9y=-75 be Equation 2.

Solving Equations 1 and 2 to get the value of x and y.

Multiply Equation 2 with 4.

16x + 36y = -300

On dividing the above expression by 2, we get

8x + 18y = -150 (Change the sign to get the value of y).

-8x - 18y = 150 --- eqn 3

Now solving eqn 1 and eqn 3

8x + 15y = -117

-8x - 18y = 150

By cancelling 8x and -8x in eqn 1 and eqn 3

-3y = 33

 y = -11

Substitute the value y in Equation 2.

4x + 9 (-11) = -75

4x – 99 = - 75

4x= -75 +99

4x = 24

x=6

Hence the value of x and y is (6,-11).

The sharks are fed three times a day. During the morning feeding , 2/15 tons of fish is fed. During the afternoon feeding, the w
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

1/6 ton of fish is fed during the feeding at night.

Step-by-step explanation:

The fish fed in the morning is \dfrac{2}{15} tons, and during after noon the fish fed is \dfrac{1}{15} more than in the morning; or

\dfrac{2}{15} +\dfrac{1}{15}

and let us call the tons of fish fed at night x, then if the total tons of wish fed during the is \dfrac{1}{2}, we have

\dfrac{2}{15}+(\dfrac{2}{15} +\dfrac{1}{15})+x=\dfrac{1}{2}

Let us add the numerators on the left side and we get:

\dfrac{5}{15} +x=\dfrac{1}{2}

and subtract \dfrac{5}{15} from both side to isolate x:

x=\dfrac{1}{2} -\dfrac{5}{15}

and since \dfrac{5}{15} =\dfrac{1}{3}, we have

x=\dfrac{1}{2}-\dfrac{1}{3}

the common denominator of the fractions is 6; therefore, we rewrite the equation as

x=\dfrac{3}{6}-\dfrac{2}{6}

and subtract the numerators to get:

\boxed{x=\dfrac{1}{6} }

which the number of tons fed during the feeding at night.

A 4-oz. filet of salmon contains 500 mg of potassium. The daily recommended amount of potassium is 3,500 mg. If you ate a 6-oz.
Lyrx [107]
The answer is 21% because a 6-oz fillet of salmon contains about 750 mg of potassium. 3500-750 equals 2750, meaning that whichever percent closest to that answer is correct. 3500 - 21% = 2760 which is the closest number to the correct percentage therefore A. Is the answer.
