Methylphenidate refers to a CNS stimulant mainly used in the treatment of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) in children between the age of 6 to 12, adults up to the age of 65, and adolescents. It can also be used in the treatment of narcolepsy.

However, the application of the drug may also bring some side-effects with it. Some of the common side-effects related to medicine are decreased appetite, headache, hallucinations, sweating, fever, dizziness, increased heart rate, weight loss, and others.

In the given case, due to the application of the drug, the child is having hallucinations. Thus, in the given case, the nurse should recommend the client to report the manifestations as quick as possible, and discontinue the use of medicine.

The next action for the nurse to do is to advice the patient to stop taking methylphenidate because hallucination is one of the side effects of the drug methylphenidate.

Further Explanation:

Stimulants are defined as the substances which increase the physiological and nervous activity of the body by increasing secretion of other chemicals. Some of the examples of stimulants are ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, caffeine, etc.

Methylphenidate is a stimulant which stimulates central nervous system and it is used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) and narcolepsy. It increases the presence of neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and dopamine in the extraneuronal space and prolongs their action by blocking reuptake by neurons.

The most common side effects of the methylphenidate drug is signs of heart problems which includes heart burn and trouble breathing, signs of psychosis which includes hallucinations, aggression, hostility and new behaviour problems and signs of circulation problems.

Describe how the different rates at which land and water are heated affect climate
VARVARA [1.3K]
For the answer to the question above,

Water absorbs vast amounts of energy. Likewise bodies of water release energy very slowly. Areas near water are usually milder. Organic materials (such as plants and animals) tend to absorb more energy. Unlike a desert that holds it. Thus air temp. in a forest is usually cooler than the temp. in a desert.

Since land and water heat at different temperatures, the effects of this process creates climates. For instance, warm weather and moisture from oceans can create hurricanes. I hope this helps
