Answer

let Vt be the  total volume of ice berg

V_f be the volume displaced by the ice berg

fraction of visible ice berg

   visible fraction = \dfrac{V_T-V_F}{V_T}

                            = 1 - \dfrac{V_F}{V_T}

we know mass of iceberg is equal to the mass of fluid displaced

    \rho_T V_T = \rho_f V_f

    \dfrac{V_F}{V_T} = \dfrac{\rho_T}{\rho_F}

now,

                            = 1 -\dfrac{\rho_T}{\rho_F}

a) when ice berg float in the salt water

   visible fraction = 1 -\dfrac{\rho_T}{\rho_F}

   visible fraction = 1 -\dfrac{917}{1024}

   visible fraction = 0.10 = 10%

b) when ice berg float in the freshwater

   visible fraction = 1 -\dfrac{\rho_T}{\rho_F}

   visible fraction = 1 -\dfrac{917}{998}

   visible fraction = 0.081 = 8.1%

Which has more kinetic energy, a 40 kg cheetah running at 25 m/s or a 4,000 kg elephant moving at 2 m/s? How much more energy do
denis23 [38]

Answer:

1st case; mass=40 kg

      v=25m/s

K.E.=1/2[40][25]^2=12,500 J

2nd case; mass=4,000 kg

       v=2 m/s

  K.E.=1/2[4000][2]^2=8000J

in case 1 Kinetic energy is greater.

2. (1 point) Two metal spheres with different radii are each hanging from insulating nylon threads. One of the spheres has a net
DiKsa [7]

Answer:

A. attract each other

Explanation:

When the neutral sphere is brought close to the negatively charged, as charges can move freely in a conductor, some electrons will be repelled, leaving a net positive charge (equal in magnitude ot the charge in the other sphere) on the surface of the neutral sphere, which will cause that both spheres attract each other.

Billy drops a water balloon from the roof of his house since the balloon began with with an original velocity of zero how far ab
Zielflug [23.3K]
The distance between the roof and the ground where the balloon water was dropped is 30.65 meters. This is computed using the free fall formula which state that the height or distance is equal to the time it takes object to hit the ground times the constant gravity. In this case, 2.5 seconds times 9.807 meter per square second will then give us the 30.65 meter.

3. A 20 kg lawnmower is pushed by its handle, which makes a 40 degree angle with the horizontal. What
Mkey [24]

<u>13788 J is required to finish the work.</u>

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of lawnmower is 20 kg

Force = 30 N

\text { Angle }(\theta)=40^{\circ}

Displacement ( distance moved )= 20m

The force of 30N is applied along the direction of motion and was applied for the whole 20 m.

The formula of work done for one pass is

\text { Work done }=\text { force } \times \text { displacement } \times \cos \theta

Substituting the given data into the formula,

W=30 \times 20 \times \cos 40^{\circ}

\mathrm{W}=600 \times \cos 40^{\circ}

\mathrm{W}=600 \times 0.766

W = 459.6 J

Work done for one pass = 459.6J

Now, work done for 30 passes is calculated by multiplying the work done for one pass into 30.

\text { Then the work done for } 30 \text { passes is } 459.61 \times 30=13788 \mathrm{J}

Work is done by the person pushing the mower to finish the work is <u>13788 J</u>.

If equal force were applied to a basketball and a baseball which would travel further according to newtons 2nd law of motion
SashulF [63]
Most likely the baseball because it weighs less therefore with the same force it will go further due to the fact it weighs less it would be easier to apply force and the less it weighs there is also less force acting upon it.
