Dr. Waring has a solo practice. When she is on vacation, she arranges for Dr. Dumphey to cover her patients. Dr. Dumphey’s medic

al assistant, Theresa, has just received a call from a patient of Dr. Waring. The patient is an elderly woman, with multiple medical problems, who is possibly having a reaction to a medication that Dr. Waring prescribed two days ago for bronchitis. Her symptoms include nausea, upset stomach, dizziness, headache, rash on her chest, and extreme exhaustion. Theresa senses that the patient may be exhibiting some disorientation to time and place, because it is difficult to elicit consistent responses from her regarding her medications. The patient reports to Theresa that the newest medication she has been taking is Biaxin. The other medications she takes include Prinivil, Cardizem CD, Premarin, Prilosec, Robaxin, Zocor, Ambien, Prozac, Fosamax, Seldane, and aspirin. The patient does not know the dosage of any of these medications but is willing to “open up her bag of medicine” and read each prescription label to Theresa.

The patient was right to call the Doctor's office to let the doctors nurse know that she was having a reaction to the new medication for her bronchitis. Dr. Dumphey should have prescribed her a new medication that would not go against her other medications that she is taking.

All three bacterial species are gram negative. Gram negative bacteria tend to survive better in Internal cavities of the body as they do not have thick cell walls like gram positive bacteria, so tend to "dry out" in dryer conditions like on the skin.

When i log into the labor & delivery department in epic as an l&d nurse, my default start-up activity is:____.
julia-pushkina [17]

"When a nurse logs into the labor & delivery department in epic as an L&D nurse, the default start-up activity is to follow- up on the list of patients.

L&D nurses have many roles. They are there for their patients from beginning to end during the delivery process. They aid in procedures that need to be performed before labor, like taking vitals. They are there when the baby is delivered and they educate parents on what they should do now they have given birth.

Labor and Delivery Nurses work as main points of support for OBGYNs, monitoring of patient vitals, administering medication, and establishing a trusted line of communication with expectant mothers. A L&D nurse cares for mothers during labor and birth and provides the infant's initial postpartum care under the supervision of a nurse midwife or physicians. "
