Probability Trees - See linked image

A good visual method for this is a probability tree.

Each set of branches represents the probabilities of on coin being removed, the second set is out of 9 as the first coin is taken and not replaced.
Multiply along the lines to work out the probability of each of the combinations.

*Even though only 'Dime Dime' is needed, it is best to do all of them as this way you are able to get all marks in an exam; you can also add up all the final values as a check to see if you are right.

Answer: (x+3)^2=-4(y-3)

Step-by-step explanation:

From the figure, it is downward parabola of the form x^2=-4ay

The parabola has its vertex at (-3,3)

Distance between parabola vertex and its directrix is 1 unit.

So, the value of a is 1

Hence, the equation of parabola is (x+3)^2=-4(y-3)

Marrrta [24]

Answer

• A. Equation: 25(5 + x) = 325

,

• B. Answer: 8 dogs

Explanation

Given

• Charge to wash a dog: $25.

• She washed 5 dogs on Saturday and then some more on Sunday.

• She made $325 for the weekend.

Procedure

She charges $25 per wash, she made $325 for the weekend, and we know that on Saturday she washed 5 dogs, but we don't know how many she washed on Sunday. Thus, we have to build an equation in which the number of dogs washed on Sunday is represented by x (as we do not know the real number).

Considering that the total money made has to be equal to the multiplication of the charge times the dogs washed, the equation is:

25(5+x)=325

Then, we have to solve for x to know how many dogs did she wash on Sunday.

0. Multiplying the parenthesis

125+25x=325

2. Subtracting 125 from both sides of the equation

125-125+25x=325-12525x=200

3. Dividing both sides of the equation against 25

\frac{25x}{25}=\frac{200}{25}x=8

Answer:

70. 8x⁴

71. 3n - 10

72. a/5 + 12

Step-by-step explanation:

70. a number "x" raised to the fourth = x⁴

Product of 8 and x⁴ = 8 × x⁴

= 8x⁴

71. 3 times a number "n" = 3 × n = 3n

3n decreased by 10 = 3n - 10

72. Quotient of a number "a" and 5 = a/5

12 more than a/5 = a/5 + 12
