A 1200-kilogram space vehicle travels at 4.8 meters per second along the level surface of Mars. If the magnitude of the gravitat

The normal force acting on the vehicle is 4440 N. Normal force is the force perpendicular to the ground. The important given values are the mass of the space vehicle (1200 kg) and the gravitational field strength (3.7 N/kg). To get a value of Force in Newtons, we just multiply the two numbers together: force = field strength * mass = 3.7 N/kg * 1200 kg = 4440 N.

The correct answer to the question is : 4,400 N.

EXPLANATION:

The mass of the space vehicle m = 1200 Kg.

The speed of the space vehicle v = 4.8 m/s.

The gravitational field strength E = 3.7 N/Kg.

We are asked to calculate the normal force on the space vehicle.

The gravitational force that acts on the space vehicle is calculated as -

                                Force F = E × m

                                              = 3.7 N/ Kg × 1200 Kg.

                                               = 4.440 N.

The normal reaction on the space craft is equal to the force of gravity on Mars.

Hence, the normal reaction on the space vehicle is 4,440 N.

An object is falling from a height of 7.5 meters. At what height will it’s velocity be 7 meters/second?
Nady [450]
One of the equations of gravity is this:
{v}^{2} = {u}^{2} + 2gh
Where v = final velocity which is 7m/s
u = initial velocity which is 0 for objects falling from a height
g = acceleration due to gravity and it is approximately 10m/s^2. It's a constant so pretty much remember this number. It's positive since the work being done is caused by gravity (in other words, it's falling down). It can also be negative if the work being down is against gravity (in other words, it's going up)
h = height of object

Substitute for the values and you should have something like this
{7}^{2} = {0}^{2} + 2 \times 10 \times h
49 = 0 + 20h
h = \frac{49}{20}
h = 2.5m

Two planets have the same surface gravity, but planet b has twice the radius of planet
nevsk [136]
The formula for the acceleration due to gravity is:

a = Gm/r²
where
G is the universal gravitational constant = 6.6726 x 10⁻¹¹ N-m²/kg²
m is the mass of planet
r is the radius of planet

So, if they have the same a:

m₁/r₁² = m₂/r₂²
So, if m₁ = m and r₂ = 2r₁,
m/r₁² = m₂/(2r₁)²
m₂ = 4m

Thus, the answer is D.
