We have a pair of sides that overlap perfectly. This is a common side. This forms the "S" in AAS. The marked angles form the two "A"s in AAS. Note that for any triangle, the side S is not between the marked angles. So we would not use ASA. The order of the letters matters. Though AAS is the same as SAA.
