) The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration collects data on seat-belt use and publishes results in the document Occupa

nt Restraint Use. Of 1,000 drivers 16-24 years old, 79% said they buckle up, whereas 924 of 1,100 drivers 25-69 years old said they did. Does the data provide sufficient evidence to conclude that there is a difference in seat belt use? Go over all the steps in the process for comparing two sample percentages.

Answer:

We conclude that there is a difference in seat belt use.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that of 1,000 drivers 16-24 years old, 79% said they buckle up, whereas 924 of 1,100 drivers 25-69 years old said they did.

<u><em>Let </em></u>p_1<u><em> = population proportion of drivers 16-24 years old who buckle up .</em></u>

<u><em /></u>p_2<u><em> = population proportion of drivers 25-69 years old who buckle up .</em></u>

So, Null Hypothesis, H_0 : p_1-p_2 = 0      {means that there is no significant difference in seat belt use}

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : p_1-p_2\neq 0      {means that there is a difference in seat belt use}

The test statistics that would be used here <u>Two-sample z proportion statistics;</u>

                     T.S. =  \frac{(\hat p_1-\hat p_2)-(p_1-p_2)}{\sqrt{\frac{\hat p_1(1-\hat p_1)}{n_1}+\frac{\hat p_2(1-\hat p_2)}{n_2} } }  ~ N(0,1)

where, \hat p_1 = sample proportion of drivers 16-24 years old who buckle up = 79%

\hat p_2 = sample proportion of drivers 25-69 years old who buckle up = \frac{924}{1100} = 84%

n_1 = sample of 16-24 years old drivers = 1000

n_2 = sample of 25-69 years old drivers = 1100

So, <u><em>test statistics</em></u>  =  \frac{(0.79-0.84)-(0)}{\sqrt{\frac{0.79(1-0.79)}{1000}+\frac{0.84(1-0.84)}{1100} } }

                              =  -2.946

The value of z test statistics is -2.946.

Since, in the question we are not given with the level of significance so we assume it to be 5%. <u><em>Now, at 0.05 significance level the z table gives critical values of -1.96 and 1.96 for two-tailed test.</em></u><em> </em>

<em>Since our test statistics doesn't lie within the range of critical values of z, so we have sufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis as it will fall in the rejection region due to which </em><em><u>we reject our null hypothesis</u></em><em>.</em>

Therefore, we conclude that there is a difference in seat belt use.

Answer:

Area of circle: 1662.57 cm

Circumference of circle: 144.57 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula of area of circle:

pi x r2 or radius x radius

So, it's 22/7 x 23 x 23 = 1662.571429

Formula of circumference of circle:

2 x pi x radius OR

pi x diameter

Let's use the second method, to find diameter it is radius x 2 = 46

So,

46 x 22/7 = 144.5714286

The estimated monthly sales of Mona Lisa paint-by-number sets is given by the formula q = 104e−3p2 + p, where q is the demand in
Alona [7]

Answer:

The price elasticity of demand is 0

Step-by-step explanation:

The demand function for monthly sales is given as:

q = 104e^-3p^2 + p

The price elasticity of demand E is obtained by differentiating q with respect to p

E = dq/dp = (-6p + 1) × 104e^-3p^2 +p =

When p = ¥200

E = (-6×200 + 1) × 104e^-3(200)^2 + 200 = -1199 × 104(0) = -1199 × 0 = 0

Aki's Bicycle Designs has determined that when x hundred bicycles are built, the average cost per bicycle is given by C(x)equa
Alenkinab [10]

Answer:

20 Bicycles

Step-by-step explanation:

The function for the average cost,C(x) [in hundred of dollars] per bicycle whenever x hundred bicycles are built is given as:

C(x)=0.5x^2-0.2x+6.756

The minimum value of C occurs at the axis of symmetry.

Axis of Symmetry, x=-\frac{b}{2a}

Comparing with the standard form of a quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0

a=0.5, b=-0.2

x=-\frac{(-0.2)}{2*0.5}\\x=0.2

x=0.2 Hundreds =0.2 X 100 =20

When Aki's Bicycle Designs produces 20 Bicycles, the cost is minimized.

Answer:

4. 480.38m² 6. 3.35

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming you're looking for the area of the shaded region, you must first be aware that the entire circle has a 360 angle.

From there. for no. 4:

You subtract 87 from 360 to find the angle of the major arc.

360-87=273

From there you must also know the formula to find the area of a sector which is:

(x/360)×pi×r²

In our case 273 is x and 14.2 is r so

(273/360)×pi×14.2²= 480.38

Do the same steps to find 6
