Find the missing side of the right triangle. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary.

Mathematics

Answer:

7.1 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

As it is a right-angled triangle, you can use the Pythagoras theorem to work out the last side. The formula is A^2 x B^2 = C^2, where C is the hypotenuse (longest side).

5^2 is 25, and as you have two of those sides you double 25 to give you 50, which is C^2. To get C, you have to square root 50, which is 7.07106781187 cm or 7.1 cm to the nearest 10th.

Given:
olga55 [171]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

y = 1/3x + 6

y = 1/4x + 3

this is just a matter of substitution...subbing in one y for the other

y = 1/3x + 6.....so sub in 1/3x + 6 in for y, back into the second equation or u can work it the other way and sub in 1/4x + 3 in for y, back into the first equation....either way will work

1/3x + 6 = 1/4x + 3

1/3x - 1/4x = 3 - 6

4/12x - 3/12x = -3

1/12x = -3

x = -3 * 12

x = - 36

now sub that back into either of ur original equations to find y

y = 1/3x + 6

y = 1/3(-36) + 6

y = - 12 + 6

y = - 6

solution is : x = -36 and y = -6 or (-36,-6)

Do you multiply area or add it
pogonyaev
It's the formula. Base times height.
For example: if 50 is the base and 10 is the height, just multiply them both.
50 x 10 = 500. And I don't think you add area-that's for finding the perimeter
