A carpenter built three bookcases, A, B and C, to stand next to each other along a wall. The total length of the wall is 456 cen

timeters. The carpenter will build two more bookcases, D and E, along the same wall. These two book cases will have equal widths. The widths of bookcases A, B and C are A 132 cm, B 94 cm, C 108 cm. What is the width of D and E?

Answer:

The width of bookcase D is 61 cm

The width of bookcase E is 61 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

see the attached figure to better understand the problem

step 1

Sum the widths of the three bookcases A, B and C

132+94+108=334\ cm

step 2

Subtract the sum of the three bookcases A,B and C from the total length of the wall

456-334=122\ cm

step 3

Divide that answer in step 2 by 2, and that will let you know the widths of D and E, because they may have equal widths

122/2=61\ cm

therefore

The width of bookcase D is 61 cm

The width of bookcase E is 61 cm

What is the area of this trapezoid?
White raven [17]
The answer is 126in^2. The formula for calculating trapezoid is A=a+b/2(h). Area=base 1+base 2 divided by 2 times height. Base 1 is 12in. Base 2 is 2in+2in+12in=16in. And the height is 9in. So 12in+16in=28in. 28in/2=14in. 14in(9in)=126in^2.

A couple wants to install a square mirror that has an area of 500 square inches.To the nearest tenth of an inch what length of w
Marizza181 [45]

A couple wanted to install a square mirror that has:

Area of the mirror = 500 square inches.

x = nearest tenth of an inch , length of wood needed

s = sides of square

Area = s2

500 (area) = s2  | √

x = √500

=> √ 5 x 100

=> √ 5 x √100

=> 10 √ 5

=> approximately 22.4

Since we’re looking for the nearest tenth of decimal place value, the answer is approximately 22.4
