In the question , it is given that , Justin writes the letter illinois on cards and then places the cards in a hat .

Number of i 's are 3 and total number of alphabets are 8.

Probability of getting i is

= \frac{3}{8}

And probability of not getting i is

1- \frac{3}{8} = \frac{5}{8}

Required odd in against is

= \frac{probability \ of \ not \ getting \ i}{ probability \ of   \ getting \ i}

= \frac{5/8}{3/8} = \frac{5/8}{3/8} = \frac{5}{3}

The odds against picking an i are 5:3, since there are 5 letters that are not i and 3 letters that are.

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (4, 5) and (12, 7)?
blondinia [14]

Answer:

1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

To find slope, we use the formula rise over run (y2-y1 over x2-x1)

So first, our y's: 7-5=2

And our x's: 12-4=8

2/8 simplifies to 1/4

If a polynomial function f(x) has roots 6 and square root of 5, what must also be a root of f(x)?
ivolga24 [154]

Answer:

-\sqrt{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

A root with square root or under root is only obtained when we take the square root of both sides. Remember that when we take a square root, there are two possible answers:

  • One answer with positive square root
  • One answer with negative square root

For example, for the equation:

x^{2}=3

If we take the square root of both sides, the answers will be:

x=\sqrt{3} \text{ or } x= -\sqrt{3}

Only getting one solution with square root is not possible. Solutions with square root always occur in pairs.

For given case, the roots are 6 and \sqrt{5}. Therefore, the 3rd root of the polynomial function f(x) had to be -\sqrt{5}

It seems you made error while writing option B, it should be - square root of 5.

Ulleksa [173]

Answer: 4/3

Step-by-step explanation:

You would find this answer because if x is 0 then it is just 2 then when you multiply 3 x 4/3 you get 4 then when you add that by two you get 6

Hopes this helps
