Mr. Zelman gave 400 books to his nephew

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that, Mr. Zelman wants to give 50% of his comic book collection to his nephew Alex

Mr. Zelman has 800 comic books

Number of books with Zelman = 800

Mr. Zelman wants to give 50% of books to Alex

Number of books given to nephew = 50 % of books of Zelman

Therefore, we have to find 50 % of 800

\rightarrow 50 \% \text{ of } 800

\rightarrow 50 \% \times 800\\\\\rightarrow \frac{50}{100} \times 800 = 400

Thus he gave 400 books to his nephew

Determine whether the statement is true or false, and explain why.
Zielflug [23.3K]

Answer:

False

Step-by-step explanation:

In this case, i woudnt reccomend to use integration by parts, becuase you are not simplifying the expression by doing an integration and a derivation. It is not easy to integrate 1/x³+1, and if you derivate it, then a natural logarithm would appear, and the integral wont be easier after this parts step.

It is a better idea to use integration by substitution. Note that if you replace x³+1 by a variable y, we have that dy = 3x² dx. We can easily make a 3xdx appear in the integral by multiplying and dividing by 3, solving the integral easily:

\int\limits_0^1 x^2/x^3+1 \, dx = 1/3 * \int\limits_1^2 du/u = (ln(2) - ln(1) )/3

(Note that, if x ranges from 0 to 1, then u = x³+1 ranges from 0³+1 = 1 to 1³+1 = 2)

5/4 to 3/8 as a percent change
Digiron [165]
Well, what's the diffrence from 5/4 to 3/8?

\bf \cfrac{5}{4}-\cfrac{3}{8}\qquad \stackrel{\textit{LCD is 8 clearly}}{\implies }\qquad \cfrac{10-3}{8}\implies \cfrac{7}{8}

so, if we take 5/4 to be the 100%, what is 7/8 off of it in percentage anyway?

\bf \begin{array}{ccll}&#10;amount&\%\\&#10;\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}&\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}\\&#10;\frac{5}{4}&100\\\\&#10;\frac{7}{8}&x&#10;\end{array}\implies \cfrac{\quad \frac{5}{4}\quad }{\frac{7}{8}}=\cfrac{100}{x}\implies \cfrac{5}{4}\cdot \cfrac{8}{7}=\cfrac{100}{x}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{40}{28}=\cfrac{100}{x}\implies x=\cfrac{28\cdot 100}{40}
