The Iron Curtain was a problem because it blockaded access to East Berlin and prevented the free flow of Germans across the borders between East and West Germany. More broadly it prevented the movement of ideas and peoples across this artificially created boundary. And more importantly than that it signified the dividing line of the Cold War between Western Europe and the United States and the Soviet Union which had a major impact on fomenting mistrust and conflict.
Bc it let's citizens know the limits of the government's power, and also imposes a system of checks and balances to ensure that these limits are obeyed

Natural resources shape the economy of a region. For example New England colonies were relying on craftsmen because the area was rich in wood and decided to invest in ship building. Middle colonies opted for fishing, hunting and trading because the landscape was ideal for it. Southern colonies, because of the climate and the vast plains, opted for agriculture.
