A catering company is offered $650 to buy poultry for a party. The company can either buy turkey, which costs $1.40 a pound, or

chicken, which costs $1.85 per pound. The client needs at least 400 pounds of meat. Which of the following systems correctly describe the possible amounts of chicken (c) and turkey (t) for this catering job?

T=lb of turkey
c=lb of chicken

alrighty

400lb meat
c+t=400
total amount of money is 650
cost=amount times cost per u nit
cost for chicken is c times 1.85 or 1.85c
cost for turkey is t times 1.40 or 1.40t

so the equations are
c+t=400 and
1.85c+1.4t=650

Use multiplying by 1 to find an expression equivalent to 3/14 with a denominator of 14 y.
Soloha48 [4]
As a matter of simplification, same/same = 1.

now, "same" could be anything whatsoever, you name it, a whole polynomial, a whole anything whatsoever.

\bf \cfrac{\sqrt{2}}{\sqrt{2}}=\cfrac{\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}}=\cfrac{100000000}{100000000}=\cfrac{eggs}{eggs}=\cfrac{miles}{miles}=\cfrac{\frac{\quad \sqrt{3}}{\sqrt[5]{17}}\quad }{\frac{\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt[5]{17}}}=\cfrac{whatever}{whatever}=1

now, that said, let us use 1 in this case then ... hmmmm we simply need a "y" in the denominator, so we simply multiply the denominator AND numerator by "y", y/y  = 1 btw.

\bf \cfrac{3}{14}\cdot \cfrac{y}{y}\implies \cfrac{3y}{14y}

If the equation y = (x - 6)(x + 12) is graphed in the xy-plane, what is the x-coordinate of the parabola’s vertex? Also please s
creativ13 [48]

x- coordinate of vertex = - 3

the vertex lies on the axis of symmetry , which is positioned at the midpoint of the zeros

find the zeros by setting y = 0

(x - 6)(x + 12) = 0 ( equate each factor to zero and solve for x )

x - 6 = 0 ⇒ x = 6

x + 12 = 0 ⇒ x = - 12

x coordinate of vertex = \frac{- 12+6}{2} = \frac{-6}{2} = - 3

How do you solve and simplify
DedPeter [7]
F(x) = 1/(x+2)   & g(x) = x/(x-3)

(f(x) + g(x) = 1/(x+2) + x/(x-3). Reduce to same denominator:

1/(x+2) + x/(x-3) =(x-3) + x(x-3)/(x+2).(x-3) ==> (x²+3x-3)/(x+2).(x-3)

Courtney works at the local shoe store and receives $150 a week plus 3% of all sales over $1000. This week her sales were $3200.
schepotkina [342]

The equation you would use to find her earning for the week would be:

y=0.03(x-1000)+150

This would mean she made $66 from commissions and $216 total.
