The length of XY is 17 units

Step-by-step explanation:

A mid-point of a line segment

  • Divide it into two equal segments
  • Each segment is half the length of it

∵ X is the mid-point of WY

∴ WX = XY

∴ WX = \frac{1}{2} WY and XY = \frac{1}{2} WY

∵ WX = 3x - 1

∵ WY = 10x - 26

- By using the rule WX = \frac{1}{2} WY

∴ 3x - 1 = \frac{1}{2} (10x - 26)

- Simplify the right hand side

∴ 3x - 1 = 5x - 13

- Add 1 to both sides

∴ 3x = 5x - 12

- Subtract 5x from both sides

∴ -2x = -12

- Divide both sides by -2

∴ x = 6

∵ XY = WX

∵ WX = 3x - 1

∴ XY = 3x - 1

- Substitute the value of x in the expression of XY

∴ XY = 3(6) - 1

∴ XY = 18 - 1

∴ XY = 17 units

The length of XY is 17 units

Answer:

Quadratic equations are similar to exponential equations by having a curve in the graph. Algebraically, linear functions are polynomial functions with a highest exponent of one, exponential functions have a variable in the exponent, and quadratic functions are polynomial functions with a highest exponent of two.

Finger [1]

The area of the shaded region of this figure which can be calculated by the difference of the larger region from the smaller region would be 104 in.²

<h3>What is the area of the rectangle?</h3>

The area of the rectangle is the product of the length and width of a given rectangle.

The area of the rectangle = length × Width

Area of a larger rectangle

= Length × Width

= 18 × 12

= 216 in.²

Area of the smaller rectangle

Length = 12 - 2 - 2 = 8 in.

Width = 18 - 2 - 2 = 14 in.

= Length × Width

= 8 × 14

= 112 in.²

Area of the shaded region = Area of a larger rectangle - Area of the smaller rectangle

= 216 - 112

= 104 in.²

Hence, the area of the shaded region of this figure is 104 in.²

Rudiy27

Answer:

  \overline{\text{BC}}=\boxed{22}

Step-by-step explanation:

The angle marks mean those angles have the same measure. That means the sides opposite them have the same measure, so ...

  2x -24 = x -2

  x = 22 . . . . . . . . . add 24-x

The length of BC is x, so is 22.

BC = 22
