6x + 7y = 11  . . . . (1)
5x + 2y = 13 . . . .  (2)

6x + 7y = 11  (multiply through by 2)  →   12x + 14y = 22   (1^{a})

5x + 2y = 13  (multiply through by 7)  →   35x + 14y = 91   (2^{a})

    by subtracting (1^{a}) from (2^{a})

   ⇒  (35x + 14y) - (12x + 14y) = 91 - 22
     ⇒      35x - 12x + 14y - 14y = 91 - 22
                                 ⇒      23x = 69
                              ⇒ 23x ÷ 23 = 69 ÷ 23
                                          ∴  x = 3

By substituting found value of x into (2),
          ⇒     5(3)  +  2y  =  13
          ⇒       15  +  2y = 13
          ⇒                 2y = 13 - 15
                              2y = -2
                        ∴      y = -1

Thus the solution to the system is (3 , -1)

Farmer Ed has 1.000 meters of fencing, and wants to enclose a rectangular plot that borders on a river. If Farmer Ed does not f
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

  1000 m of fence can make a 3-sided enclosure of 125,000 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the length of fence parallel to the river. Then the perpendicular dimension is ...

  width = (1000 -x)/2

and the enclosed area is ...

  area = length×width = (x)(1000 -x)/2

This describes a downward-opening parabola with zeros at x=0 and x=1000. The vertex (maximum) is halfway between, at x=500.

Then the maximum area is ...

  area = (500)(1000 -500)/2 = 125,000 . . . . square meters

Lea buys 6 model cars that each cost $15 she also buys 4 bottles of paint that each cost $11 how much does lea spends on model c
MissTica
Times the price of the model cars to the amount bought.

$15×6= 90.

Lea paid 90 dollars for the model cars.

Now, multiply the price of the paint to the amount bought.

$11×4= 44.

Lea paid 44 dollars for the paint.

Add both together. 90+44= 134.

Therefore, Lea paid $134 for the model cars and paint all together.

hope this helps!

Simplify (3v5+8v3−10v2)−(−12v5+4v3+14v2) . Write answer in standard form.

Tatiana [17]

Answer:

15v^5+4v^3-24v^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Distribute the Negative Sign:

=3v5+8v3−10v2+−1(−12v5+4v3+14v2)

=3v5+8v3+−10v2+−1(−12v5)+−1(4v3)+−1(14v2)

=3v5+8v3+−10v2+12v5+−4v3+−14v2

Combine Like Terms:

=3v5+8v3+−10v2+12v5+−4v3+−14v2

=(3v5+12v5)+(8v3+−4v3)+(−10v2+−14v2)

=15v5+4v3+−24v2

Answer:

=15v5+4v3−24v2

Hope this helps! :)
