So in the problem, the length of the chord there is the circumference of the tree. So in order to get the diameter of the tree, we must use the formula in getting the circumference of a circle that is stated as follows.

C = 2pi *Radius

so first we need the get the radius of the tree which represent by this formula:

Radius = C /2pi = 8/6.2832 = 1.2732 ft
Diameter = 2*radius = 2 * 1.27 32 = 2.5465 feet

In summary, the diameter of the tree is 2.565 feet.

Sami's bank account earns 4% simple interest per year. If Sami deposits $500, how much simple interest will she earn in one year
timurjin [86]

Answer:

$20 simple interest.

Step-by-step explanation:

The simple interest that Sami earns is 4% of her deposit since she is trying to find how much she will earn in one year (given that the interest rate is 4% per annum).

\$500\times4\%=\$20

∴ Sami earns $20 simple interest in one year.

Hope this helps :)

Find the area, in square feet, of a triangle whose base is 42⁄3 feet and whose altitude is 84⁄7 feet. A. 135⁄21 B. 20 C. 40 D. 2
CaHeK987 [17]

Answer:

Option B. 20\ ft^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The area of a triangle is equal to

A=\frac{1}{2}bh

we have

b=4\frac{2}{3}\ ft

h=8\frac{4}{7}\ ft

Convert mixed numbers to an improper fractions

b=4\frac{2}{3}\ ft=\frac{4*3+2}{3}=\frac{14}{3}\ ft

h=8\frac{4}{7}\ ft=\frac{8*7+4}{7}=\frac{60}{7}\ ft

substitute the values

A=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{14}{3})(\frac{60}{7})\\ \\A=\frac{14*60}{2*3*7}\\ \\A=\frac{840}{42} \\ \\A=20\ ft^{2}

Caleb and Mike both score the same amount of points in a game. Caleb has fifteen less than the total number of points. Mike has
elena-s [515]
Answer:
129 points
Step-by-step explanation:
Let L and C represent the scores of Luke and Caleb, respectively.
L = 2C -15 . . . . . Luke scored 15 less than twice the number Caleb did
L +C = 201 . . . . . they scored 201 points altogether
Add twice the second equation to the first:
2(L +C) + (L) = 2(201) + (2C -15)
3L +2C = 387 +2C . . . . simplify
3L = 387 . . . . . . . . . . . . .subtract 2C
L = 387/3 = 129 . . . . . . .divide by 3
Luke scored 129 points.
