Can be both, because if all three were negative, it would be

negative*negative= positive
positive*negative=negative
example: -1*-1*-1=-1

but if all three were positive, it would obviously be positive, because any number of positives can't make negatives in multiplication.

How many positive integers less than 100 have at least one digit that is a 9? (Let T be the set of positive integers less than 1
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

19

Step-by-step explanation:

Let T be the set of positive integers less than 100 with a 9 in the ten's place.

T = {90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99}

n(T) = 10

Let O be the set of positive integers less than 100 with a 9 in the one's place.

O = {9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, 79, 89, 99}

n(O) = 10

The common element is 99.

T\cap O={99}

n(T\cap O)=1

The union of both sets is

n(T\cup O)=n(T)+n(O)+n(T\cap O)

n(T\cup O)=10+10-1

n(T\cup O)=19

Therefore, 19 positive integers are less than 100 those have at least one 9.

PLEASE HELP ASAP !!!!

Explain Larissa's mistake using 1-3 complete sentences.
kenny6666 [7]

Answer:

Line 6

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph intersects at (-5, 16) and (2, 2)

Because she needs to plug the x's back into the equation

so 16 = -2(-5) + 6 or 16 = -5^{2} + -5 - 4

and 2 = -2(2) + 6 or 2 = 2^{2} + 2 - 4

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

xy = k

where k is the constant of variation.

We can also express the relationship between x and y as:

y =

where k is the constant of variation.

Since k is constant, we can find k given any point by multiplying the x-coordinate by the y-coordinate. For example, if y varies inversely as x, and x = 5 when y = 2, then the constant of variation is k = xy = 5(2) = 10. Thus, the equation describing this inverse variation is xy = 10 or y = .

Example 1: If y varies inversely as x, and y = 6 when x = , write an equation describing this inverse variation.

k = (6) = 8

xy = 8 or y =

Example 2: If y varies inversely as x, and the constant of variation is k = , what is y when x = 10?

xy =

10y =

y = × = × =

k is constant. Thus, given any two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) which satisfy the inverse variation, x1y1 = k and x2y2 = k. Consequently, x1y1 = x2y2 for any two points that satisfy the inverse variation.

Example 3: If y varies inversely as x, and y = 10 when x = 6, then what is y when x = 15?

x1y1 = x2y2

6(10) = 15y

60 = 15y

y = 4

Thus, when x = 6, y = 4.

Find the value of x and y so that the quadrilateral is a parallelogram.
Mashutka [201]

Applying the properties of a parallelogram, the values of x and y are: x = 8; y = 20.9

Properties of a Parallelogram

 • The opposite sides in a parallelogram have the same length.
 • Opposite angles are equal.
 • Adjacent angles in a parallelogram are supplementary.

4x - 17 = 2x - 1 (equal sides)

 • Solve for x

4x - 2x = 17 - 1

2x = 16

x = 8

(3y+5) + (6y -13) = 180

 • Solve for y

9y - 8 = 180

9y = 180 + 8

9y = 188

y = 20.9

Therefore, applying the properties of a parallelogram, the values of x and y are: x = 8; y = 20.9
