Hi there! :)

\large\boxed{f(x) = (x + 2)^{2}  - 64}

f(x) = x² + 4x - 60

Rewrite:

0 = x² + 4x - 60

Complete the square by creating a perfect square trinomial. Make sure to add the third term to both sides:

0 + 4 = (x² + 4x + 4) - 60

Rewrite the trinomial as a square binomial:

4 = (x + 2)² - 60

Subtract 4 from both sides:

0 = (x +2)² - 64

Rewrite:

f(x) = (x + 2)² - 64

Use algebraic means to show that x^2 + y^2 = 8 is not a function. Explain your process.
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

For a single value of x function has more than one corresponding value of y which satisfies the equation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Function: A relationship between a set of inputs and a set of possible outputs, where exactly one output is associated with each input.

It means for an equation to represent a function any single value of  x there should be only one corresponding value of  y which satisfies the equation.

Now consider the given equation.

x^2 + y^2 = 8

If we put x=0 then we get two value of y i.e \sqrt8 and -\sqrt8 which satisfy the equation  and therefore the equation is not a function.

Naila worked 3.5 hours more than Lisa. Together, they worked a total of 18 hours. Lisa worked h hours.
densk [106]

Answer:

Lisa = 7 hours and 15 minutes

Naila = 10 hours and 45 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Naila = N

Lisa = L

Naila worked:

N = 3.5 + L

In total, they worked:

N + L = 18

Lisa worked:

L = h

Substitute values into the total equation

3.5 + L  + L = 18

Solve

2L = 14.5

L = 7.25 = 7 hours and 15 minutes

N = 7.25 + 3.5 = 10.75 = 10 hours and 45 minutes

Hope this helps :)

Ax + b &gt; ax + c?<br> What is the solution
frutty [35]

Answer:In general, any equation of the form ax + b = c, with a not equal to zero, can be solved in two steps. First add the opposite of b to both sides. Then multiply both sides by the reciprocal of a. x - 53 = 7.
