Cancer can be described as a disease characterized by the cell cycle going out of control. Discuss what it means for the cell cy

cle to be out of control. Is it appropriate to connect cancer and the cell cycle? Why or why not? My answer: The cell cycle is a series of events that occur when the cell starts to seperate and replicate itself, and if cancer can be described as the cell cycle going out of contro,l it makes sense that the two connect to each other. The cell cycle going out of control means that the cells start to evolve and begin to repeatedly increase and reproduce.

Answer:

Yes, cancer is related to cell cycle since mutations in genes that regulate the cell cycle result in cancer.

Explanation:

The cell cycle is a series of events that form new cells from the existing parent cells. The cell cycle is tightly regulated at several points by growth regulatory proteins that make a cell to undergo cell division only when required. Mutation in the genes for these regulatory proteins makes the target cells to undergo repeated cell division even when the new cells are not required.

Similarly, tumor suppressor genes are the ones that prevent the cells to undergo cell division when the new cells are not needed by the body. Some of these genes are Rb, p53, or p21. Mutations in these genes do not allow the respective proteins to suppress cell division in their target cells. In the absence of suppressor proteins, the cells enter the cell division and form tumors.

Therefore, cancer is caused by mutations in the genes that make the cells to enter the uncontrolled cell cycle.

That answer sounds great! You might also want to add that the cell cycle is thrown out of control by the mutations that occur. Cancer is fundamentally the accumulation of reproduced mutated cells.

What human activities affect the water, carbon, and the nitrogen cycle what are the consequences
Mademuasel [1]
The nitrogen cycle is impacted by humanswhenever fertilizer is applied to farmland to help crops grow. This adds nitrates to the soil. If soil erodes, the nitrates are transported and deposited in the nearest body of water. This can cause algae to overgrow in a process called eutrophication. The lake will run out of oxygen as the algae die off and bacteria begin their decomposition.Sessile organisms are greatly affected.

Several organisms have a homologous protein (inherited from a common ancestor) that is highly similar at the amino acid level. Y
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

The correct answer is: C. third nucleotide position.

Explanation:

  • Genes located on the chromosomes encodes for proteins.
  • A Gene is made up of a  Deoxyribonucleotide (DNA) sequence which is transcribed into the messenger Ribonucleotide (mRNA) sequence by the help of RNA polymerase.
  • This mRNA sequence is further translated into the amino acid sequence, that folds to form the functional protein, by the help of the Ribosome.
  • The Ribosome reads the mRNA sequence in the form of triplets (three nucleotide together) and each such triplet nucleotide codes for an amino acid.
  • Each such triplet nucleotide is known as a Codon.
  • The Genetic Code is a table which represents the  amino acid encoded by each codon.
  • However, the Genetic Code is degenerate in nature. This means that one amino acid can be coded by more than one codon.
  • This is because, among the the three nucleotide positions in a codon only the first two determine the specificity of the amino acid while the third nucleotide, also called the wobble nucleotide, is not specific. Presence of any nucleotide in the third position of the codon will not alter the amino acid encoded by the codon.
  • In the given question, organisms producing homologous protein have similar amino acid sequence but they vary in the corresponding nucleotide sequence of the gene which codes for the homologous protein.
  • This is because at the nucleotide level the variation lies in the wobble nucleotide position that occupies the third position in the codon.
