X = Lilys weight
x + 34 = Arthurs weight
4x - 180 = combined weight

x + x + 34 = 4x = 180
2x + 34 = 4x - 180
-2x           -2x
_________________
        34 = 2x -180
     +180        + 180
_______________
       214 = 2x
        107  = x  which is Lily's weight
         141 = x + 34 which is Arthur's weight
The total weight is 248

which is the answer that you get when you do 4(107) = 180 or
428 -180 = 248

Two transformations occur on F(x) to obtain G(x).

a) Multiplication by -1
This means, the function is reflected across x-axis

b) Multiplication by 5.
This means vertical stretch by a factor of 5.

So, G(x) can be obtained by reflecting F(x) across x-axis and stretching it vertically be a factor of 5.

So, the correct answer is option B

Alan multiplies a 4-digit number by 36. How can you tell the
mafiozo [28]

The number of partial products Alan will have when he multiplies a 4-digit number by 36 is; 8 partial products.

First, we must establish that a 4-digit number will have 4 place values namely;

  • Thousands
  • Hundreds
  • Tens
  • Ones.

And since, 36 has 2 place values;

We can conclude that the number of partial products that Alan wil have is; 2× 4 = 8.

Which shows a perfect square trinomial?
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

Third choice.

Step-by-step explanation:

Trinomial means you have 3 terms.

You don't have 3 terms in first two choices so let's not look at them.

Anything of the form a^2x^2+2abxy+ b^2y^2 is a perfect square trinomial because it can be written as (ax+by)^2.

Let's this this:

(ax+by)^2

(ax+by)(ax+by)

Now foil!

First=ax(ax)=a^2x^2

Outer=ax*by=abxy

Inner=by*ax=abxy

Last=by*by=b^2y^2

Add together and this gives you a^2x^2+2abxy+b^2y^2.

So looking at third choice you can write it as 4^2x^2+24xy+3^2y^2.

Is 2*4*3 equal to 24?  If it is then you have your answer. It is.

We have our answer.
