Answer:

Option D - December

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :  Mandy read 16 books this year and read 2 books each month.

Bill wants to catch up to Mandy and follow:

Month        Books

May-          4

June-         8

July-          12

From this table bill increases his books by 4 per month.

and Mandy Increases her books by 2 per month.

Let x represent the no. of months (x=1 represent the May)

Therefore,

For Mandy who already read 16 books in the end of April and reads 2 books each month ⇒ 16+2x

For Bill he wants to catch Mandy so he started with reading 4 books in a month ⇒4x

The month will Bill have read the same amount of books as Mandy

16+2x=4x

⇒16=2x

⇒x=8

i.e, from May to 8 months ⇒December

Month(x)           Mandy(16+2x)       Bill(4x)

May(1)                    18                          4

June(2)                  20                         8

July(3)                    22                        12

August(4)               24                        16

September(5)        26                        20

October(6)             28                        24

November(7)          30                        28

December(8)          32                        32

At the end of December they will have read the same amount of books.

Hence, Option D is correct.
