He argues that the Calvinists played an important role in creating the capitalistic spirit and pointed out the correlation between being a Protestant and being involved in business of some kind to explain capitalism. According to him, seeking and pursuing profit and material success was seen as virtuous as a sign of God's favor. This attitude and way of thinking broke down the traditional economic system and made a way for the capitalism that we know today.
