Foresters recently noticed an apparent drop in the squirrel population in a near-by oak-hickory forest. The squirrels eat acorns

produced on the oak trees; hawks eat squirrels. The foresters are not sure what is causing the decline in the squirrel population but they are concerned that both the squirrel and hawk populations will disappear. How could they best find an answer to their question?
a) Tag and track the hawks i the area
b)Conduct a decade long population study
c) Monitor the acorn production of the oak trees for several seasons
d) Use a computer simulation model of the potential first population

Answer: c) Monitor the acorn production of the oak trees for several seasons.

Explanation:

A food chain is the chain of transmission of food and energy when one organism consumes the other organism in an ecosystem.

According to the given situation, the squirrel population is dependent upon the oak trees as source of food. The hawks are dependent upon the population of squirrel as source of food. The certain decline of the squirrel as well as the hawk population may be due to the decrease in production of the oak trees for several seasons. This will reduce the population of the squirrel due to lack of food and the likelywise the population of hawk will also decline as the population will not receive squirrels as food.

Alex777 [14]

Answer:

Ego

Explanation:

In 1923, Sigmund Freud's personality theory was structured into three different parts viz: Id, ego and superego

The id is the instinctive and unconscious part of the personality which responds directly to urges, needs and desires. The id operates on the pleasure principle that every wishful impulse should be satiated instantly regardless of the resulting effect.

The ego is the part that mediates between the unreasonable id and societal beliefs. It is the reasoning and decision-making component of the psyche.

The superego is the part that acts as a self critical conscience, reflecting the social standards that has been learnt

In this scenario involving Cecil, the id part of his personality is responsible for the sexual attraction to his English teacher but the ego part of his personality is making him realize that is socially unreasonable for his teacher to respond to his sexual advances. His ego, which operates with the reality principle is restraining him from acting from his feelings in consideration of social realities.

Therefore, his ego is restraining him from expressing his feelings of sexual attraction (Id) considering societal consequences.

At the complete end of cellular respiration, how many molecules of ATP are produced
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

38 ATP

Explanation:

On complete oxidation of one molecule of glucose yields 38 ATP.  Break up of energy production is given below:

  • During glycolysis 2 ATP and 2 NADH is produced.
  • During formation of Acetyl CoA, 2 NADH is produced.
  • During Citric Acid Cycle, 2 ATP, 6 NADH, 2 FADH₂ are produced.

Finally during Electron transport chain, reduced coenzymes NADH and FADH₂ oxidised to release ATP. Each NADH produce 3ATP and each FADH₂ produces 2 ATP. Altogether 10 NADH is produced during entire process of cellular respiration which yield 30 ATP and 2 FADH₂ yields 4 ATP. Therefore, on complete oxidation of one molecule of glucose yields 38 ATP.

Difference between pleomorphic and dedifferentiated
emmainna [20.7K]
Pleomorphism (microbiology): the ability of some bacteria to alter their shape or size in response to environmental conditions. Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is the least common subtype of liposarcoma and usually arises from a well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDLPS). Progression occurs. in 17 % of patients when WDLPS is located in the retroperitoneum and 6% of cases when WDLPS is located in the extremities.
