A medicine to remove the redness in eyes was tested in a group of 100 students. Each student took either the medicine or a place

bo in both eyes. The participants were given some free time after receiving their drops. The researcher did not keep track of what they did in that free time. It turns out that many of the people receiving the medicine spent their time outside and many of the people receiving the placebo spent their time inside. The results may now be biased because the variable location (inside vs. outside) is now a/an ____ variable.

Answer:

Independent variable

Explanation:

In a scientific experiment, an independent variable is that variable which the experimenter changes or manipulates in order to effect an outcome. Only one independent variable should be tested at a time in a good experiment, all other variables should be kept constant. The initial independent variable in this experiment is TYPE OF SUBSTANCE put in the students' eyes.

However, according to the question, the researcher did not keep track of what they did in that free time. Hence, many of the people receiving the medicine spent their time outside and many of the people receiving the placebo spent their time inside. The location of every student should be a CONSTANT VARIABLE i.e. same for all students but now it has become an INDEPENDENT VARIABLE because it has been changed.

Interpret the Punnett square. A Punnett square with four rows and four columns. The first row is labeled big-A, big-B. The secon
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

The genotypes shown represent gametes. False

One of the possible offspring genotypes is AABB. True

The parent genotypes are ABAbaBab×ABAbaBab. True

The parent genotypes are ABAbaBab×ABAbaBab. True

This cross shows two alleles for two traits. True

The gametes are diploid and the offspring are diploid. False

The genotypes shown are correct for a dihybrid cross. True

Explanation:

║ AB ║ Ab ║ aB ║ ab

AB║ABAB ║ ABAb║ABaB║ABab

Ab║ AbAB║ AbAb ║AbaB║Abab

aB║aBAB ║ aBAb ║aBaB║aBab

ab║abAB ║ abAb ║abaB ║abab

Drawing the Punnett square we can deduce that the genotypes shown do not represent gametes because there are more than 2 pairs of chromosomes.

As shown in the second column second row of the Punnett square one of the possible genotypes is AABB, it is distributed different (ABAB) but it is the same possible genotype.

The parents' genotypes are the ones that are written in the first columns and first row, they coincide with the ones in the statement.

A dihybrid cross shows the cross between two genes that have different traits.

The gametes are always haploid and the offspring are diploid because the two gametes come together.

Which best describes the offspring of protists?
Hunter-Best [27]

Options found elsewhere:

-always genetically identical to one parent

-always genetically identical to both parents

-never genetically identical to one parent

-sometimes genetically different than both parents

Answer:

-sometimes genetically different than both parents

Explanation:

Protists are eukaryotes that cannot be classed as animals, plants, or fungi. They are quite diverse. Examples include amoeba, plasmodium, and slime mould.

Because they are so diverse, protists also have very different modes of reproduction. Some protists undergo asexual reproduction, where they simply make a copy of themselves without a mate. Others undergo sexual reproduction.

Therefore, the only option that can be correct is "-sometimes genetically different than both parents" .

If they were always genetically identical to one parent or both parents, that would mean that sexual reproduction could not be possible. If they were never genetically identical to one parent, that would mean that asexual reproduction could not be taking place.

Cancer cells are anaplastic in that they "form backward" to an earlier de-differentiated state. the cells have nuclei that vary
soldier1979 [14.2K]

The cells have nuclei that vary in size and shape, termed pleomorphism.

Pleomorphism is usually defined in biology as the occurrence of multiple structural forms during the life cycle of an organism. In anaplasia, it represents multiple structural forms of nuclei. Pleomorphism is a characteristic feature found in malignant neoplasms, and dysplasia, but it can also be found in certain benign cell types.
