4x+8y=40\\\\ \ \ \ \ when\ y=0.8:\\\\4x+8\cdot0.8=40\\4x+6.4=40\ \ \ \ |subtract\ 6.4\\4x=40-6.4\\4x=33.6\ \ \ |:4\\\boxed{x=8.4}

Now first of all we should plug in 0.8 to y .
now we have this simple equation: 4x+8.(0.8)=40
4x+6.4=40
4x=33.6
x=8.4  (hope it helps :) )

Luis created a spreadsheet of his expenses for three months. Which of Luis's expenses are variable expenses?
ddd [48]

As they vary from month to month, Luis's variable expenses are the utility bill, groceries, clothing and fuel.

Variable expenses is a concept in economics. They are costs that change due to an increase or decrease in the production volume, such as raw material costs.

The variable cost in money is obtained by multiplying, starting from a certain cost, the variable cost in kind by the price of the variable factor. The curves of average variable cost and marginal variable cost are deduced from the curve of variable cost in money according to geometric relationships.

Therefore, as they vary from month to month, Luis's variable expenses are the utility bill, groceries, clothing and fuel.

Describe and correct the error a student made in writing the exponential function
Olenka [21]

The true statement is (a) the student made an error by multiplying incorrectly. The final answer should be f(x) = 6(\frac13)^x

The student steps' are given as:

  • Starting value: a = 6
  • Constant ratio: r = 1/3
  • f(x) = 6(\frac13)^x
  • f(x) = 2^x

<h3>What is an exponential function?</h3>

An exponential function is a function that is represented as:

f(x) = a(b)^x

Where:

  • a represents the initial value
  • b represents the rate

From the student steps, we have:

f(x) = 6(\frac13)^x

The above means that:

The student did not make any error in substituting the values

However, the student made a mistake in multiplying 6 and (1/3)^x

So, the correct function that represents the given parameters is f(x) = 6(\frac13)^x

Can someone give step by step on what to do?
ohaa [14]

Answer:

SA=14.28^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

In the Equation it asks for 3 things; pi (3.14), r (The radius), and h (the height).

In the question, it says that the radius is 1 foot and that the height is 4 feet. From there all you need to do is insert those numbers where it's shown in the equation. This makes the equation go from this:

SA=2\pi r^{2} + 2\pi r h

To this: SA=2(3.14)(1^{2}) + 2(1)(4)

From there you follow PEMDAS/GEMDAS. And should have your answer.
