During the twentieth century, the real income of blue-collar workers in western societies increased significantly overall, although it has dropped in the past 20 years.
White-collar workers went to work in factories instead of going to farming, and within a few years created the new industrial working class of America. Workingin factories was a difficult transition for rural people who were accustomed to living in communities where life was controlled by the hours of available daylight and the natural rhythm of the seasons.

You are considering purchasing stock in Canyon Echo. You feel the company will increase its dividend at 3.9 percent indefinitely
yKpoI14uk [10]

Answer:

$48.2

Explanation:

The increase in dividend is 3.9%

= 3.9/100

= 0.039

The recently paid dividend is $3.62

The required return is 11.7%

= 11.7/100

= 0.117

Therefore the price per share of the company stock can be calculated as follows

= 3.62(1+0.039)/0.117-0.039

= 3.62(1.039)/0.078

= 3.761/0.078

= 48.2

Hence the price per share is $48.2

N76 [4]

Assume that skilled labor costs twice as much as unskilled labor, a profit maximizing firm will hire until the marginal product of unskilled labor is half that of skilled labor.

A profit maximizing firm is a firm that tries to create products that are of good quality at the barest or smallest cost.

The marginal product falls after an additional amount of the resource has been added. It is the extra amount that is gained due to the addition of an extra unit.

Due to the fact that both the skilled and unskilled would decrease eventually, the company would have to hire both at equal marginal products.

Exercise 5-66 Bad Debt Expense: Percentage of Credit Sales Method Gilmore Electronics had the following data for a recent year:
Stels [109]

Answer:  Debit Bad debt expense $11,264, Credit Allowance for bad debt $11,264; Debit Allowance for bad debt $9,650, Credit Accounts receivable $9,650.

Explanation: Percentage of credit sales method means bad debt expense expressed as a percentage of sales.

The estimated bad debts rate is 2.2%, which translates to 2.2% of $512,000 (credit sales) = $11,264. The firm has to record this, being the estimated bad debts rate, as Debit to bad debt expense and Credit to allowance for bad debt. However, accounts receivable that was deemed uncollectible is $9,650. This amount would be taken out from the buffer in allowance account by debiting allowance for bad debt and crediting accounts receivable.
