A school debate team has 4 girls and 6 boys. A total of 4 members will be chosen for the school debate. What is the probability
that 2 boys and 2 girls will be chosen?
I'm not sure how to figure this out?
2 answers:
Me neither. 2/4 of girls chosen, and 2/6 of boys chosen? I have no clue but I tried.
First, you know that there are two fractions.
2/4 and 2/6
Second, they have to be like denominators in order to combine. Both denominators share a multiple of 12.
2/4 = 6/12 and 2/6 = 4/12
Finally, all you have to do is add.
6/12 + 4/12 = 10/12
10/12 can be simplified to 5/6.
I hope this helps. (:
