Let f(x) = 8x3 − 28x + 61 and g(x) = 2x + 5. Find f of x over g of x.
antoniya [11.8K]

Answer:

4x^2-10x+11+\frac{6}{2x+5}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given functions are:

f(x)=8x^3-28x+61 and g(x)=2x+5

By algebraic properties of functions;

\frac{f(x)}{g(x)}=\frac{8x^3-28x+61}{2x+5}

We perform the long division of the two polynomials as shown in the attachment.

Therefore:

\frac{8x^3-28x+61}{2x+5}=4x^2-10x+11+\frac{6}{2x+5}

The last choice is correct

If f(x) = 8 – 10x and g(x) = 5x + 4, what is the value of (fg)(–2)?
Vedmedyk [2.9K]
F(x) = 8 - 10x

g(x) = 5x + 4

Finding (fg)(-2).

First let us find fg(x),  this is the same as f(g(x))

f(g(x))

f(5x + 4)

Recall, f(x) = 8 - 10x, therefore f(5x + 4) would be such that anywhere we see x in the f(x), we replace it with 5x + 4

f(x) = 8 - 10x

f(5x +4) =  8 - 10(5x + 4)

             =  8 - 50x - 40

             = -50x + 8 - 40

             =  -50x - 32

f(g(x)) = fg(x) = -50x - 32

fg(-2) = -50*(-2) - 32 = 100 - 32 = 68

Therefore fg(-2) = 68

I hope this helped.

Graph each equation by using the x- and y-intercepts
Alex Ar [27]
You have the correct graph. Plug in y = 0 and solve for x to get x = -3. Do the same for x = 0 and solve to get y = -3.

x intercept = -3 which is the point (-3,0)
y intercept = -3 which is the point (0,-3)

Nice job on getting the correct graph with the correct points.
