Hi there!

If we split into the ratio 3 : 1 we must realise first that we have a total consisting of 4 parts. We split this up into 3 / 4 and 1 / 4.

1 / 4 × 124 = 0.25 × 124 = 31
3 / 4 × 124 = 0.75 × 124 = 93

Therefore, 124 divided in the ratio of 3 : 1 gives us 93 and 31.
