By the use of substitution:for x,

2x-3y=21 ;

will equal 2x-3 (3-x)=21

2x-9+3x=21

5x=30

x=6.

for y:

since y equals 3-x;

y=3-6=-3

By substitution is how to solve

2x-3y=21
y=3-x

2x-3(3-x)=21
2x-9+3x=21
5x=30
x= 6

now substitute our x value into y=3-x
so we get

y=3-6 = -3

so x=6 and y=-3  hope this helps!!!!! Thank you!

A window is twice as long as it is wide. The area of the window is 2x where x
Alchen [17]

Answer:

When we have a rectangle of length L and width W, the area is calculated as:

A = W*L

In this case, W = x, and the area is:

A = 2*x

Then we must have  L = 2.

We know that the area of the window and the frame (together) is:

a = 2*x^2 + 12*x + 16

The area of the frame alone, will be equal to the difference between the area of both objects (a) and the area of the window alone (A)

area of the frame = a - A

                             = (2*x^2 + 12*x + 16) - (2*x) = (2*x^2 + 10*x + 16)

This is the area of the frame

The volume of a sphere is 45001 m3. Find the length of the radius<br> of the great circle.
Scilla [17]

Answer:

\large \boxed{\text{22.07 m}}

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the volume (V) of a sphere is:

V = ⁴/₃πr³

We can use this equation to calculate the radius (r).

\begin{array}{rcl}45001 & = & \dfrac{4}{3} \pi r^{3}\\\\33750 & = &\pi r^{3}\\10740 & = &r^{3}\\r & = & \textbf{22.07 m}\\\end{array}\\\text{The radius of the great circle is $\large \boxed{\textbf{22.07 m}}$}

Find the value(s) of "k" that will cause the equation 4x^2 +kx + 4 to have one real solution.
Andreas93 [3]

Answer:  k = {8, -8}

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

In order for a quadratic equation to have exactly one solution, the discriminant must equal zero.       →        b² - 4ac = 0

  4x² + kx + 4 = 0

  ↓       ↓      ↓

a=4    b=k    c=4

b² - 4ac = 0

k² - 4(4)(4) = 0

k²             = 64

           k = √64

           k = ± 8
