No, in its solid state cobalt does not have an odor, and I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have an odor in its other states either.

If you have 35 ml of gas in a closed container under 1.23 atm of pressure, what will the volume be if the pressure increased to
Over [174]

Answer:

New volume is 14.35 mL

Explanation:

When a system of a gas keeps on constant its temperature and number of moles, the pressure is modified indirectly proportional to the volume:

Pressure increased → Volume decreased

Pressure decreased → Volume increased.

The relation you have to apply is: P₁ . V₁ = P₂. V₂

1.23 atm . 35 mL = 3 atm . V₂

(1.23 atm . 35 mL / 3 atm)  = V₂

V₂ = 14.35 mL

Why is carbon is considered tetravalent?
Pepsi [2]
Carbon has four valence electrons. Meaning, it has 4 electrons in it's last shell. These 4 electrons will form a covalent bond with other elements to get the full set of 8 electrons needed for it to be stable. That is why it's considered as tetravalent.

For NH4+, write an equation that shows how the cation acts as an acid
vazorg [7]

According to  Bronsted-Lowry theory acid are donor of protons and bases are acceptors of protons (the hydrogen cation or H⁺).

1) NH₄⁺(aq) + H₂O(l) ⇄ NH₃ + H₃O⁺(aq); the ammonium cation (NH₄⁺) gives proton to water.

2)  [Co(H₂O)₆]³⁺ + H₂O ⇌ [Co(H₂O)₅(OH)]²⁺ + H₃O⁺; cobalt cation (Co³⁺) forms complex cation with six molecules of water, which act like acid and gives protons.

3) CH₂NH₃⁺(aq) + H₂O(l) ⇄ CH₂NH₂ + H₃O⁺(aq); H⁺ is cationic form of atomic hydrogen, the hydrated form of the hydrogen cation is the hydronium ion H₃O⁺(aq).
