First of all you need to make sure that each side has only letters and numbers, for this equation you first need to subtract 6 of each side, this way you can change the equation appearence without changing it's value, because if you do something in both sides of an equation, it's ok. After subtracting 6 of each side you can divide both sides for -4, this way you'll take only x in the left side and 12/-4 on the other, this way you will see that x = -3

6 - 4x = 18

6 - 4x - 6 = 18 - 6

-4x = 12

-4x/-4 = 12/-4

x = -3

What is the first term in the sequence for which d = -2 and a7 = 3?
AnnZ [28]

Answer:

Final answer is c. 15

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find about what is the first term in the sequence for which d = -2 and a7 = 3

We will use nth term formula of arithmetic sequence.

a_n=a+\left(n-1\right)d

we have been given a7 that means 7th term is 3

so plug n=7, d=-2 and a_n=3 into above formula

3=a+\left(7-1\right)(-2)

3=a+6(-2)

3=a-12

15=a

Hence final answer is c. 15
