Cloning is the process wherein we can make exact genetically identical copies of a plant by using the cuttings or clippings of the vegetative part of a plant.

As we require only the cuttings/clippings we are basically using vegetative propagation for cloning and hence it requires the use of only one parent.

Selective breeding is the process wherein we select two parents who have the characteristics that are desirable and the new breed them to produce offspring that have those characters from both the parents.
