Combination number 2 for silver means that it bonded to two species in the complex, in this way:

- Ag -

NH3 has coordination number one, which mean tha it only bonds to one speciesÑ

NH3 -

So, the complex is NH3 - Ag - NH3.

=> Molecular formula: Ag [NH3]2, now if you count the oxidation numbers you get:

 (2+) + 2*(-3) + 6(+1) = +2  - 6 + 6 = +2. So the complex has a net 2 positive charge, which gives the final fomula:

[Ag (NH3)2 ] (2+), where the final (2+) is a superscript that tells the charge of the complex.

marin [14]

Answer

MnO₄ + 2H⁺ +3NO₂⁻ →3NO₃⁻ + Mn²⁺ +H₂O

Explanation

This is a redox reaction (oxidation-reduction reaction) which involves the transfer of electrons between two species. i.e

Mn + 6e⁻→Mn²⁺ (reduction)

3N³⁺- 6e⁻→3Mn⁵⁺(oxidation)

irga5000 [103]

Answer :

MgSO_4 solution contains Mg^{2+} and SO_4^{2-}

NaNO_3 solution contains Na^{+} and NO_3^{-}

Explanation :

Ionic compound : It is defined as the compound which is formed when electron gets transferred from one atom to another atom.

All the polyatomic ions always form an ionic compound.

Polyatomic ions : It is a charged species that composed of two or more atoms and these charged species are bonded by the covalent bond.

The given compounds are, MgSO_4 and NaNO_3

MgSO_4 is an ionic compound which is formed by the combination of Mg^{2+} cation and SO_4^{2-} anion.

and,

NaNO_3 is an ionic compound which is formed by the combination of Na^{+} cation and NO_3^{-} anion.
