Even though a lot of people might believe that her love for number was the main reason for her success but the truth is that her teacher's encouragement at a young age motivated her to push herself and be the best version of her. Additionally the teacher gave Jessica "increasingly complicated" work this slowly and steadily improved her math capabilities.  The motivation that she got at a young age and continued through her schooling years made her successful at math.

Von Steuben, who spoke little English, ran the troops through a gamut of intense Prussian-style drills. He taught them to efficiently load, fire and reload weapons, charge with bayonets and march in compact columns of four instead of miles-long single file lines.

Von Steuben helped to prepare a manual called “Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States,” also called the “Blue Book,” which remained the official training manual of the Army for decades.
