Hello!

The answer is 60. The lines surrounding the 60 mean absolute value. It doesn't do anything when the number is positive. Let's say if the number was [-60] then it would change to 60 because that is what absolute value does.

I hope it helps!

Write an equation of lines whose graph is parallel to the graph of y=3x-10
katrin [286]
Parallel lines have the same slope.

So the graph of  [ y = 3x + any number ] is parallel
to the graph of  [ y = 3x - 10 ] .

3) For what price is 15 percent off the same as $75 off?
Kryger [21]

\text{In this question, you would need to find the right value that 15\% is \$75}\\\\\text{You can do this by multiplying each number by 0.15}:\\\\200*0.15=30\\\\300*0.15=45\\\\350*0.15= 52.5\\\\500*0.15=75\\\\\text{You would see that 15\% of 500 is \$75}\\\\\boxed{\$500}

a system of equations is shown below: y=3x-7 and y=2x+7. what is the solution to the system of equations?
castortr0y [4]
A system of equations means that both equations need to be true in the same time.
Since y is equal with 3x-7 and 2x+7 then those must be equal with eachother.
3x-7=2x+7
3x-2x=7+7
X=14
Now that we know x use any given equation of y and substitute x with 14
Y=3•14-7=35
Solution: x=14, y=35

Show that the equation x^3 + x - 3 = 0 has a solution between 1 and 2
evablogger [386]

When x = 1:

1³ + 1 - 3 = -1

When x = 2:

2³ + 2 - 3 = 7

Since f(x) = x³ + x - 3 is continuous, it follows from the intermediate value theorem that for some c in the interval (1, 2), we have f(c) = 0, since f(1) < 0 < f(2).
