We have to get the formula of the complex formed between Fe³⁺ and ethylenediamine.

The formula of the complex is: [Fe(<em>en</em>)₃]³⁺, where, <em>en</em> is abbreviation of ethylenediamine.

Ethylenediamine (<em>en</em>) is a bidentate ligand as it contains two donating sites (-NH₂ groups). Three ethylenediamine co-ordinate to central metal ion, Fe³⁺ and forms [Fe(<em>en</em>)₃]³⁺ with a co-ordination number of six.

<u>Answer:</u> The formula of the complex will be [Fe(NH_2CH_2CH_2NH_2)_3]^{3+}\text{ or }[Fe(en)_3]^{3+}

<u>Explanation:</u>

Coordination number in a complex is defined as the number of ligands that are attached to the central metal atom.

  • If the ligand is unidentate, it will occupy 1 place around the central metal atom.
  • If the ligand is bidentate, it will occupy 2 places around the central metal atom.
  • If the ligand is tridentate, it will occupy 3 places around the central metal atom.

We are given:

A metal ion having formula Fe^{3+} and ligand attached to it is ethylenediamine (shortly named as 'en')

Coordination number of the complex is 6

We know that, 'en' is a bidentate ligand and does not carry any charge on it

Hence, the formula of the complex will be [Fe(NH_2CH_2CH_2NH_2)_3]^{3+}\text{ or }[Fe(en)_3]^{3+}

Purpose of tanning in the leather industry is to
larisa [96]

Answer:

d) Make it flexible

Step-by-step explanation:

Raw hides dry out to form a hard material that can decay with an offensive smell when they become wet.

Tanning converts the protein of the raw hide into a stable material that will stay flexible and not decompose when it gets wet.

a) is <em>wrong</em>. The purpose of tanning is to soften the leather.

b) is <em>wrong</em>. You smooth the leather manually with fine sandpaper.

c) is <em>wrong</em>. Tanning does not impart water resistance. It prevents the leather from putrefying when it does get wet.

For the balanced equation: 2H2S + 3O2 → 2SO2 + 2H2O
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

8 moles SO₂

Explanation:

To find the moles SO₂, you need to multiply the given value by the mole-to-mole ratio. This ratio, between O₂ and SO₂, is made up of the coefficients from the balanced equation.

2 H₂S + 3 O₂ -----> 2 SO₂ + 2 H₂O

12 moles O₂          2 moles SO₂
--------------------  x  ----------------------  =  8 moles SO₂
                               3 moles O₂

Strong bases such as NaOH follow the ionic IUPAC naming convention. Predict the name of this ternary compound.
Nitella [24]

Answer:Hence, the name of the NaOH is Sodium hydroxide.

Explanation:

In strong base NaOH is made up of three element sodium , oxygen and hydrogen.

NaOH dissociates is into cation and anion in its aqueous solution:

NaOH(aq)\rightarrow Na^++OH^-

While naming the ternary compound:

  • First write the name of cation present, here the cation is of sodium that Na^+.
  • followed by space then write name of the anion , here anion present in a polyatomic anion that OH^-, the name of this polyatomic anion is hydroxide.

Hence, the name of the NaOH is Sodium hydroxide.

Explain why the air temperature in each cup changed. What must have happened to the energy in the air of each cup?
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

Air outside the cup affect the kinetic energy of the particles in the wall and the cold water by transferring its heat to the cup and cold water.

Explanation:

The air outside the cup has a high temperature as compared to that of the cold water with in the cup.

As this hot and moist air it comes in contact of cup, it transfers its heat energy and become cool itself thereby leaving water droplet on the outer side of the cup.

Due to heat imparted to the cup, the atoms with in the cup and cold water starts vibrating and hence there kinetic energy increase.
