The Solidarity Movement, led by Lech Walesa, gave rise to an anti-communist, pro-democratic, peaceful social movement. At one point, it had 9.4 million members in Poland and its name became known to all. Its message, activism, and huge amount of support is considered to have been huge contribution to the ultimate fall of communism in Poland.
