A dielectric material, such as Teflon®, is placed between the plates of a parallel-plate capacitor without altering the structur

e of the capacitor. The charge on the capacitor is held fixed. How is the voltage across the plates of the capacitor affected?

Answer:

1/ K times

Explanation:

The capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor is given by

C = \frac{\varepsilon _{0}A}{d}

Where, A be the area of plates and d be the distance between the plates.

When a dielectric is inserted between the plates, the new capacitance is

C' = \frac{k\varepsilon _{0}A}{d}=kC

The charge remains same.

As we know that

q = C V

The capacitance becomes KC so, to keep the charge remains same the potential difference should be 1 / K times.

V' = V / K

How much work (MJ) must a car produce to drive 125 miles if an average force of 306 N must be maintained to overcome friction?
baherus [9]

Answer:

The right solution is "61.557 MJ". A further explanation is given below.

Explanation:

The given values are:

Force,

F = 306 N

Drive,

D = 125 miles,

i.e.,

  = 201168

meters

As we know,

The work done will be:

= F\times S

On substituting the given values, we get

= 306\times 201168

= 61557408 \ J

On converting it in "MJ", we get

= 61.557\times 10^6 \ J

= 61.557 \ MJ

A rock is dropped from a vertical cliff. The rock takes 3.00 s to reach the ground below the cliff. A second rock is thrown vert
Phantasy [73]

Answer:

Velocity v= 12.25 \frac{m}{s}

Explanation:

The first rock dropped give the distance Y in meters

Y_{f}=Y_{o}+v_{o}*t +\frac{1}{2}*a*t^{2}\\   Y_{f}=\frac{1}{2}* 9.8 \frac{m}{s^{2} }* 3^{2}   \\Y_{f}=44.1 m

Now the motion of the second rock the time change so to know the velocity

Y_{f}= Y_{o} +v_{o}*t +\frac{1}{2}*a *t^{2} \\v_{o}*t= -Y_{f} +\frac{1}{2} *a*t^{2} \\v_{o} =\frac{-44.1 +0.5 * 9.8* s^{2} }{2} \\v_{o}=  12.25 \frac{m}{s}
