A dielectric material, such as Teflon®, is placed between the plates of a parallel-plate capacitor without altering the structur

e of the capacitor. The charge on the capacitor is held fixed. How is the voltage across the plates of the capacitor affected?

Answer:

1/ K times

Explanation:

The capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor is given by

C = \frac{\varepsilon _{0}A}{d}

Where, A be the area of plates and d be the distance between the plates.

When a dielectric is inserted between the plates, the new capacitance is

C' = \frac{k\varepsilon _{0}A}{d}=kC

The charge remains same.

As we know that

q = C V

The capacitance becomes KC so, to keep the charge remains same the potential difference should be 1 / K times.

V' = V / K

A 1.5m wire carries a 3 A current when a potential difference of 74 V is applied. What is the resistance of the wire?
Allisa [31]

Answer:

24.7 ohms

Explanation:

Given in the question,

electric current = 3 A

potential difference = 74 V

Using ohm's law

<h3>V = IR</h3>

R = V/I

<em>here,</em>

<em>R = resistance of wire</em>

<em>V = potential difference</em>

<em>I = electric current</em>

<em />

plug value in the formula

R = 74/3

R = 24.7 ohms

Therefore, the resistance of the wire is, 24.7 ohms

A research-level Van de Graaff generator has a 2.15 m diameter metal sphere with a charge of 5.05 mC on it. What is the potentia
Llana [10]

Answer:

42.3 MV

Explanation:

d = diameter of the metal sphere = 2.15 m

r = radius of the metal sphere

diameter of the metal sphere is given as

d = 2r

2.15 = 2 r

r = 1.075 m

Q = charge on sphere = 5.05 mC = 5.05 x 10⁻³ C

Potential near the surface is given as

V = \frac{kQ}{r}

V = \frac{(9\times 10^{9})(5.05\times 10^{-3})}{1.075}

V = 4.23 x 10⁷ volts

V = 42.3 MV

Which of these is something whose construction MOST LIKELY would be determined by the government? A) An airport B) A golf club C
vesna_86 [32]

The answer is; A

Airports are usually controlled by governments because they are the points of entry and exit into a country and therefore should have enough security and customs. The vulnerability of the industry also from factors such as terrorism and weather requires that the government regulates the industry to protect the country's interests.
