Punishments is the cause of the “decreasing” frequency of the behavior they follow, while negative reinforcers, while negative reinforcers “increases” the frequency of the behavior that is being followed. Negative reinforcement is a response or behavior that is being reinforced by discontinuing, eliminating, or evading an undesirable result or aversive inducement.
