Answer:

9° Celsius option C.

Step-by-step explanation:

Heated piece of metal cools according to the function

c(x)=(0.5)^{(x-9)}

Now a device has been added that aids in cooling the metal according to the function.

h(x) = (-x -2)

Then temperature of the metal after x hours will be

g(x) = c(x) + h (x)

      = (0.5)^{(x-9)}-x-2

At x = 5  g (5) = (0.5)^{(5-9)}-5-2

= (0.5)^{-4}-7

= \frac{1}{(0.5)^{4}}-7

= 16 - 7

= 9° Celsius

Option C is the answer.

In both cases, we have cooling.  We can add together the 2 functions describing this cooling:  z(x) = 0.5x - 9 - [-x-2] = 0.5x - 9 + x + 2, or

z(x) = 1.5x - 7

Provided that this is correct, all we have to do now is to subst. 5 for x:

z(5) = 1.5(5) - 7 = 7.5 - 7 = 0.5 (answer)

One plane can travel 20 miles per hour faster than another. One of them goes 285 miles in the same time it takes the other to go
Hatshy [7]

Answer:

\huge\fbox{Answer ☘}

\bold\blue{190 \:miles/hr \:and \:170 \:miles/hr}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the speed of faster plane be x

therefore ,

speed of slower plane = x - 20

As the time taken is same ,

\frac{285}{x}  =  \frac{255}{x - 20}  \\  \\  \frac{57}{x}  =  \frac{51}{x - 20}  \\  \\ 57(x - 20) = 51x \\  \\ 6x = 1140 \\  \\ x = 190

therefore ,

faster plane travels at a speed of 190 miles/hr

while..

the slower plane travels at a speed = ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎( 190-20 ) miles/hr

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎=> 170 miles/hr

What quadrant contains -11pi/18 and what is the reference angle?
lina2011 [118]
Convert the angle into degrees so we can easily at what quadrant it lies
-11pi / 18 ( 180 / pi)= -110 degrees
to make it a positive angle add 360

-110 + 360= 250 degreesso it is in quadrant III
so the reference angle for quadrant III250 - 180= 70 degrees is the reference angle
